Kabale

Kabale is a highland district. It measures 1,827 km2 and borders with Rwanda to the west.

The three counties of Rubanda, Rukiga and Ndorwa together with Kabale Municipality form Kabale District.

Kabale town is a market town and a transport hub: the road going from Kampala, the capital of Uganda, to the border town of Gatuna drives through Kabale town. Another road continues westwards to Kisoro, where travelers may continue to either the Democratic Republic of the Congo or the Rwandan town of Ruhengeri.

Kabale town is often used as a stop off point for people visiting Lake Bunyonyi and is also a convenient base for the tourists to the two parks famous for mountain gorilla tracking : Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The Virunga Mountains along the Rwandan border are visible from the town.

Uganda

The Republic of Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa, bordered on the east by Kenya, the north by Sudan, on the west by the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the southwest by Rwanda, and on the south by Tanzania.

The southern part of the country includes a substantial portion of Lake Victoria, within which it shares borders with Kenya and Tanzania.

Uganda takes its name from the Buganda kingdom, which encompasses a portion of the south of the country including the capital Kampala.
